Smallfolk is a small, honest collection of hotels, villas, and resorts that work for families with young kids. Each stay is visited and reviewed by a parent traveling with kids ages 0–10 - so you can decide quickly if it's worth booking.

The verdict system

One clear answer per stay.

We don't hedge. Every stay gets a single verdict so you can scan a list and know where to look first.

  • YESEasy with kids. We'd book it ourselves and recommend it without a but.
  • DEPENDSWorks if you plan it right - usually depends on age, season, or what kind of trip you want.
  • NONot the right fit for families with young kids. We say so, and explain why.

How we choose

Tested with kids. Not booked from a press kit.

Every stay listed here has been visited by a parent traveling with young children. We pay attention to the things that actually shape a family trip: getting from the airport with a stroller, what mornings feel like, whether the pool is safe to leave for two minutes, how the kitchen handles a picky three-year-old.

For each stay we write the same four things:

  • Verdict - YES, DEPENDS, or NO.
  • One-line summary - what this place really is.
  • What to know - the honest, specific stuff.
  • Best for - who it's actually right for.

We don't list places we wouldn't book ourselves. Some stays here are a clear NO - even good-looking ones - because knowing what to skip is just as useful as knowing what to book.

How we rate

How we rate each stay.

  • Effort - how much planning and logistics it takes to actually do this trip with kids.
  • Safety - layout, pools, supervision, and the small things that decide whether you can look away for a minute.
  • Kid experience - what it's actually like for them, not what the marketing says.
  • Parent experience - whether you can realistically relax, or you're on duty all day.

Each stay is rated YES, DEPENDS, or NO based on this.

Who it's for

Parents traveling with kids ages 0–10.

Smallfolk is written for families with babies, toddlers, and young kids. If you're past the easy phase of solo trips and want a place that just works - with a kids' club, a beach you can walk to, or a villa where naps don't become a logistics problem - this is for you.
