A typical day here

What this trip actually looks like.

Realistic, not idealised. Helps you picture it before you book.

  1. Morning

Slow breakfast, kids running on the lawn, no rush to be anywhere.

  2. Afternoon

Pool time or wandering the cork-oak grounds - very unstructured.

  3. Evening

Early dinner, quiet wine on the terrace, not much happening after.

  • Animals and open space
  • No pressure to sit still

What might frustrate them

  • Not much 'structured fun'
  • No classic kids' club vibe

Room setup & cost with kids

What it actually takes to fit the family.

Easy - 1 room worksWorks for 3+ kids

Rooms are spacious enough for families without needing upgrades or multiple rooms.

We don't list exact prices - they swing with season and platform. This is the structural reality with kids.

Stroller & walkability

How it actually moves with a stroller.

  • Car needed for groceries, food & exploring
  • Stroller-friendly paths around the property
  • Smooth transfer in - kids can nap on the way

Quick read derived from the full logistics notes below - the long version has the specifics.

What I loved

The good bits, specifically.

  • Calm without being boring.
  • Space everywhere - kids can run, parents can breathe.
  • No-stress logistics; the day flows on its own.

What annoyed me

The honest small print.

  • You'll need a car for everything outside the hotel.
  • Evenings are quiet - not for going out.

01

Kid reality

Eleven hectares of Alentejo countryside (Herdade do Perdiganito) - vast lawns, cork oaks, olive groves, and outdoor pools you can actually walk between without crossing a road. There are villas as well as rooms, which matters with kids: the villa setup gives you proper space and a private terrace. Stroller-flat throughout, low-density, very little noise. Bring sun hats - there's not much hard shade on the lawn at midday.

02

Parent experience

This is one of those rare places where you don't spend the day managing the trip. You just move through it. Spa, Alentejo wine programme, and a restaurant that takes its food seriously without being precious about it. Staff are quiet and present rather than performative. Évora itself is a 15-minute drive when you want a half-day out.

03

Sleep setup

Choose a villa or a connecting two-room setup if you have small kids - the room categories vary, so confirm the configuration before booking. Travel cot and high chair on request. Blackout works in both rooms. The villa option in particular gives you a separate living space, which is the difference between a holiday and a long bedtime.

04

Logistics

Car needed but only just - Évora is 15 min away on a good road, Lisbon airport 90 min. The hotel grounds are stroller-flat throughout. Pack repellent for evenings on the terrace in summer; it's countryside.

05

Food situation

Simple, reliable, nothing complicated - works well with kids, no stress around meals. Breakfast included and very good. Restaurant is design-conscious but kid-tolerant, with simpler options on request. The wine list is the whole region in a book, which is reason enough to stay an extra night and arrange a sitter.

06

Where to go for coffee

On-site coffee

On-site is fine - you're not coming here for café culture.
